About

Hi, and thanks for visiting! My real name is Marissa, but sometimes I use my online name, Victoria. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies, and once I started to make websites, I wondered, why not share my pictures with the world? I created this little site to do just that.

My photos are organized by date, and most dates include a little note about where I took the pictures and what they are of. In addition to photos, you'll also find some of my drawings, paintings, and 3-D art under the Art category. Whenever you want to see the full-size version of a picture, just click on the thumbnail. Some thumbnails have a short description, which is visible when you hover over them. Although the vast majority of these photos were taken by me, there are a few that were taken by my family members or friends, who have kindly given permission to have their pictures featured on the site. I will include a little note to let you know whenever this is the case.

I like to photograph a wide range of subjects, and my favorites include flags, toys, buildings, and public transportation. Some of my pictures were taken while on vacation in Maine, Washington D.C., London, and other places, but most are from Boston's various neighborhoods, including the North End, Beacon Hill, West End, Financial District, Downtown Crossing, Seaport District, Back Bay, Charlestown, and Roxbury, and its surrounding suburbs, including Cambridge, Revere, Saugus, Wakefield, Winchester, Malden, and my hometown of Melrose. I enjoy photographing things that most people consider ordinary or even ugly, and showing them in a new light. I rarely process my photos. Almost all of the ones you see here are straight from the camera.

History

My family first got a digital camera in 2001, and I soon started using it for fun to take pictures of my toy animals and soldiers. I really got into photography around 2005. I have been web designing since late 2005, and I finallly opened Imperial Photography in May 2008. I used to use an Olympus C700UZ, which was my family's first digital camera, but now I mostly use an Olympus SP510UZ, which I got for Christmas in 2006.

Copyright Stuff

Creative Commons License

The photos you find here are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License. Basically what that means is, you are free to print them out, save them, put them on your site, or make graphics from them. But you should credit me (and link to ImperialKingdom.net or http://gallery.imperialkingdom.net), and you shouldn't use them for commercial purposes. Also, if you make graphics from my pictures, let others use those graphics like I'm doing. Thanks for reading :)

Technical Stuff

This site uses Valid XHTML and Valid CSS. There's always a chance, though, that I made a silly mistake on a page or two. The current layout is liquid, which means that it adjusts to a variety of screen resolutions. I've tested it out on 800x600, 1280x800, 1280x1024 resolutions and in Internet Explorer and Firefox.
